As we start to really build momentum on the JoshingTalk Submersible project, I thought I’d bring you some more insights into the build and mechanisms of the actual submersible.

The Yo! HD Camera

Courtesy of 1080Sport (whom provided the GoPro for the JoshingTalk Space Art project), they couldn’t resist getting stuck in to this project when I said I’d need another action camera to be our eyes of the underworld.

Originally, I opted for the GoPro again due to it’s magnificent capabilities. However, I was tempted by this competitor and I now believe it’s one to watch out for! Even though on the outside it has a striking resemblance to the GoPro, when you fiddle a little further with the settings it becomes apparent that certain thought out modifications become extremely useful. These include the cyclic recording function and very cool laser designator allowing you to use a laser to center a frame.
Have a look closely at the picture below and you’ll see some of the many specifications this camera entails:

So now it remains to do some tests that require a 64GB micro SD card and a couple of external battery back packs to allow it to film for a good 5 to 6 hours.

Should be enough time to get down and back up at 1 metre a second….
